The Lady of the Lake featured in ONWY really exists at Echo Park Lake.  Her real name is "Nuestra Reina de Los Angeles" (Queen of the Angels), but most people refer to her as the "Lady of the Lake."   She was placed at the lake in 1935, but had to be removed in 1986 for repairs.  She returned to the lake in 1999 and was relocated near the boat house.  In ONWY she serves as a nod to one of Joe D’Augustine’s favorite writers, Raymond Chandler.
